under·haüs pieces are born from a rich medley of materials, yet they remain simple to care for..
Pieces will age alongside you, evolving their distinctive character on their lifelong journey. Perfection, after all, can be quite dull.
The main thing to remember - they can be fragile. Even though they are crafted from stone, coral, metal, and wood, it's important to note that these elements have been meticulously worked and transformed from what mother nature intended.
So, with that in mind:
· Handle with care - dropping them can lead to the fracturing, chipping, or breaking of the natural and fragile elements, especially in areas where alterations have been made.
· Shelter from exposure to water - light rain is okay, though no liquid immersion such as showering or swimming.
· Be gentle - try not to pull, turn or poke elements that were not designed to obviously move on their own.
· Keep away from all chemicals - including domestic cleaners. These will break down the organic elements/finishes and change their appearance, most times not for the better.
To care for a piece:
· Wear it - it was never designed to be hidden away and when it is not adoring a human, please store it in a dry protected place.
· Organics - stone, coral, leather, wood and other natural elements can be gently dusted with a microfiber cloth lightly dampened with warm water.
· Metals - brass, copper and silver will naturally patina or oxidise over time (or have been patinated intentionally as part of the design). If you wish your metals to retain brightness and shine, gently hand-buff with a jewellery polishing cloth while avoiding organic elements within the piece.
· Body oils - body oils on stone can be gently removed using a cotton tip and 70% alcohol.
